Purpose Description: Deliver excellent strength and cardiovascular training services to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Responds to member and guest needs, promotes member wellness and engagement, and maintains cleanliness of the health and wellness facilities.

Position scheduling: Day, afternoon and weekend hours


Essential Functions:
1. Conducts consultations, fitness evaluations, basic orientations, teen orientations, and ActivTrax activation.

2. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.

3. Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living.

4. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members contributing to member retention.

5. Applies YMCA policies and procedures; ensures high level of safety and responds to emergency situations.

6. Maintains cleanliness and organization of equipment, desk, Wellness Center, Bike Cave, and 3rd Floor Studio.


Qualifications:

1. Required certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED.

2. Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills; detail-oriented.

3. Ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds.

4. Previous customer service; ability to multi-task.

5. Basic knowledge of computers.


Preferred Qualification:

 
1. Acquired or currently acquiring BAS or higher in Exercise Science, Athletic/Sports Training, Physical Education, Health Education, other related fields, or national certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM).


Physical Demands:

1. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and safely lifting a minimum of 50lbs.
